pudisteis

Pudisteis is the second-person plural form of the Spanish verb poder in the preterite indicative. It translates as "you all could" or "you all were able to," referring to a completed ability or a successful result in the past. The form is part of the irregular preterite pattern of poder, where the stem becomes pud- in all preterite forms.

Conjugation in the preterite is: yo pude, tú pudiste, él/ella/usted pudo, nosotros pudimos, vosotros pudisteis, ellos/ellas/ustedes pudieron. The stem pud- appears consistently across these forms, with the usual preterite endings. This form is mainly used with the vosotros subject in Spain; in most Latin American varieties, the vosotros form is rarely used and you would instead use ustedes with the third-person plural form (pudieron) to express the past tense for a you-all subject.

Usage notes: Pudisteis is used to describe a past event in which a group demonstrated the ability to do something or managed to achieve it. In negative contexts, no pudisteis indicates that you all were not able to do something due to circumstances. Because Latin American dialects commonly employ ustedes instead of vosotros, the corresponding past tense with ustedes is pudieron.
