Psühhromeeter is a Finnish term that translates to psychrometer in English. A psychrometer is a scientific instrument used for measuring the humidity of the air, which is the amount of water vapor present in the atmosphere. It consists of two thermometers: a dry-bulb thermometer and a wet-bulb thermometer.

The dry-bulb thermometer measures the ambient air temperature. The wet-bulb thermometer has its bulb covered with a damp wick or cloth. As water evaporates from the wick, it cools the bulb. The rate of evaporation, and therefore the cooling effect, depends on the amount of moisture already in the air. If the air is dry, evaporation will be rapid, leading to a lower temperature reading on the wet-bulb thermometer. If the air is humid, evaporation will be slow, and the wet-bulb temperature will be closer to the dry-bulb temperature.

By comparing the readings of the dry-bulb and wet-bulb thermometers, one can determine the relative humidity, dew point, and other measures of atmospheric moisture. Psychrometers are essential tools in meteorology, agriculture, and various industrial processes where humidity control is critical. They are relatively simple to use and provide accurate humidity measurements when properly maintained.
