Prozatekst is a term used in some Slavic-language literary analyses to denote prose text—writing that is not in verse. The coinage blends the words for prose (proza) and text (tekst) and is most commonly attested in Polish-language scholarship, though related forms appear in neighboring languages. It functions as a neutral label for ordinary prose, as opposed to poetry or dramatic script.

Scope and usage. Prozatekst covers written material such as novels, short stories, essays, journalism, and other expository or narrative prose. It is not a rigid genre but a descriptive category meant to contrast prose-based works with verse or dramatic forms. In some discussions, the term may emphasize the textual nature of writing, rather than its content or thematic concerns.

Form and style. Prozatekst is typically organized in sentences and paragraphs rather than lineation and stanzas. Its features include narrative flow, description, argument, and exposition, with room for dialogue, interior monologue, and varied pacing. While it denotes prose, individual texts may still employ lyrical or figurative language, rhetorical devices, and stylistic experimentation.

Relation to other forms. The term helps distinguish prose from poetry (verse with line breaks and meter) and from drama (dialogue-driven performance text). It can also appear in contrast to more experimental or hybrid forms such as prose poetry, which intentionally borrows poetic techniques while appearing primarily as prose.
