Pronajímatel is a Czech term that translates to landlord or lessor in English. It refers to an individual or entity that owns property and grants another party the right to use and occupy that property for a specified period in exchange for rent. This arrangement is typically formalized through a lease agreement or rental contract.

The pronajímatel has certain rights and responsibilities. They are generally entitled to receive rent payments on time and expect the property to be treated with reasonable care by the tenant. Their responsibilities often include ensuring the property is in a habitable condition, carrying out necessary repairs, and respecting the tenant's right to quiet enjoyment of the premises, meaning they cannot arbitrarily enter the property or disturb the tenant's peaceful occupation.

The tenant, known as a nájemce, pays rent and agrees to abide by the terms of the lease, which usually includes maintaining the property and using it for its intended purpose. The lease agreement outlines the specific obligations of both the pronajímatel and the nájemce, covering aspects like the duration of the lease, the amount of rent, payment schedules, rules regarding pets or subletting, and procedures for termination.
