It operates under a projektipäällikkö (project manager) and within a governance framework that includes sponsors and stakeholders.

Composition typically includes a project manager, representatives from relevant functions, engineers or specialists, and, depending on context, a product owner or customer representative. Stakeholders may participate as advisers. Roles and responsibilities are usually outlined in a project charter or terms of reference, with clear decision rights and escalation paths.

Life cycle: formation and chartering, planning, execution and monitoring, and closure. The team develops a project plan, assigns tasks, manages risks and dependencies, and maintains regular communication through status reports and meetings.

Methods: projektiryhmä work within both traditional and agile contexts. In agile settings, practices may include Scrum or Kanban, with cross-functional collaboration, sprints, reviews, and backlog management. In more traditional projects, the team follows sequential stages and formal change control.
