Prestigebärarna is a Swedish pop and folk music collective that emerged from Stockholm in the early 1970s. The group originally formed in 1971 under the name "Frisörerna," a name that reflected their early, playful aesthetic. By 1973 the ensemble had refined its moniker to Prestigebärarna, a title that translates roughly as “the Prestige Bearers,” a nod to their aspirations of artistic distinction within the Swedish music scene.
