Porteringen (plural) is the act or process of portering, borrowed from English. In Dutch usage it refers to several related activities where something is carried, moved, or transferred from one context to another.

In information technology and software engineering, portering means adapting a program or service to run on a different platform, operating system, processor architecture, or runtime environment. This often requires analyzing dependencies, rewriting or wrapping code, adjusting build systems, and verifying functionality and performance on the target platform. Portering differs from reimplementation in that it aims to reuse as much of the original design as possible.

In telecommunications, portering includes nummerportering, the process by which a customer retains their telephone number when changing service providers. Regulators typically set rules and timelines for verification, provisioning, and billing to facilitate consumer mobility.
