Policystyczny is an adjective in Polish used to describe something that contains or is characterized by many cysts. The term is derived from Greek roots meaning “many” and “cyst,” and it is widely used in medical and scientific language to denote multiple cystic spaces within a structure.

In medical contexts, policystyczny describes diseases or conditions in which numerous cysts are present. The most common associations are polycystic kidney disease (choroba policystyczna nerek) and polycystic ovaries (jajniki policystyczne). The broader clinical term Zespół policystycznych jajników is known in English as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The adjective also appears in descriptions of cystic lesions in other organs, such as torbiele policystyczne w wątrobie or other tissues observed in imaging or pathology.
