Pledger refers to an investor who lends money to a company or individual in exchange for a promise to return principal and interest. This financial arrangement is typically used for a project or business acquisition. The lender, known as the "issuer" or "borrower" might have difficulties in getting the money from traditional sources such as banks or other financial institutions.

In finance, pledgers are often involved in privately organized funding initiatives, such as initial public offerings, debentures, or private placements. Companies issue bonds or notes to raise capital, with the promise of regular interest and return of principal.
