plasmastralen
Plasmastralen is a term used in several languages to denote a directed stream or jet of plasma, i.e., a stream of ionized gas. In English-language plasma physics, the concept is usually described as a plasma jet, plasma beam, or plasma stream; plasmastralen may appear in regional technical literature or in popular-science contexts. A plasmastralen consists of ionized gas in which electrons and ions are present, produced when a gas is ionized and then accelerated and shaped by electric and magnetic fields. Depending on the source, the beam can be mostly ionized, partially ionized, neutralized, or carry a net electric charge.
Generation methods include arc plasmas produced by plasma torches, radio-frequency or microwave discharges, and laser-produced plasmas
Applications span materials processing such as cutting, welding, coating, and surface treatment; deposition of thin films;
