Planeetülekannet, also known as planetary transmission or gearbox, is a type of mechanical gearbox that uses one or more planetary gear sets. Each planetary gear set consists of a sun gear, several planet gears that revolve around the sun gear, and a ring gear that encloses the planet gears. The planet gears are mounted on a carrier. By selectively locking or rotating different components (sun gear, planet carrier, or ring gear), different gear ratios and directions of rotation can be achieved.
