There are several types of pildivõimendid. Some operate in the spatial domain, directly manipulating pixel values. Examples include contrast stretching, where the range of pixel intensities is expanded to utilize the full available dynamic range, and sharpening filters, which increase the definition of edges and fine details by emphasizing differences between adjacent pixels. Noise reduction techniques, such as median filtering or Gaussian smoothing, are also common spatial domain methods to remove unwanted random variations in pixel values.

Other pildivõimendid work in the frequency domain. These methods transform the image into its frequency components, allowing for targeted manipulation. For instance, high-frequency components, which correspond to details and edges, can be amplified, while low-frequency components, representing the overall brightness and smoothness, can be adjusted.

More advanced techniques often employ machine learning and artificial intelligence. Deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks (CNNs), can learn complex patterns and features from large datasets of images. These models can then be trained to perform tasks like super-resolution, where a low-resolution image is enhanced to a higher resolution with synthesized details, or denoising, which removes noise while preserving image structure more effectively than traditional methods.
