Pigmentiska is a Swedish music project founded in 2005 in the city of Gothenburg. The band is best known for its eclectic blend of electronic pop, folk influences, and experimental soundscapes, creating a distinctive style that has been described by critics as “melodic darkwave with a modern twist.” The founding members are vocalist and guitarist Erik Löfgren, keyboardist and producer Sofia Andersson, bassist Johan Mårtensson, and drummer Daniel Nilsson. Over the years, the lineup has changed frequently, with a rotating cast of session musicians contributing to live performances and studio recordings.

The group released its debut EP, “Svalka,” in 2006, which received positive reviews in the Swedish indie press and helped secure a modest following in the Scandinavian alternative scene. Their first full-length album, “Ättermåne”, followed in 2008 and earned the band a nomination for the Swedish Music Awards’ Best Newcomer category. Subsequent releases include “Kivelsögur” (2011) and “Fjällvind” (2014), the latter of which incorporated field recordings from the Swedish highlands and was praised for its atmospheric depth. In 2018, Pigmentiska released “Anubis,” a concept album that explored themes of memory and identity, and it was featured on numerous podcast playlists as a representation of contemporary European experimental pop.

Pigmentiska has toured extensively across Europe, sharing stages with acts such as Måneskin, Tame Impala, and Björk. While the group has never broken into the mainstream charts, they are respected within niche electronic and indie circles for their sonic ambition and thoughtful songwriting. The project’s influence can be seen in the work of several emerging Swedish artists who cite Pigmentiska as a key inspiration for their own genre-blending approaches.
