Piekopbrengst is a Dutch term meaning “peak output” or “peak production.” It is commonly used in engineering, energy, and industrial contexts to describe the maximum level of output that a system or process can achieve during a specified period. The term is derived from the Dutch words piek, meaning peak or pinnacle, and opbrengst, meaning output or yield.

In power generation, picopbrengst refers to the highest instantaneous power that a power plant can deliver to the grid. This value is usually expressed in megawatts (MW) or gigawatts (GW). It is determined by the plant’s design specifications, mechanical limits, and safety margins. For wind turbines, the peak output is reached when the wind speed is optimal for the blade design, typically between 8 and 12 metres per second. In solar photovoltaic installations, the peak output is measured under standard test conditions of 1,000 watts per square meter of irradiance, 25 °C cell temperature, and clean, flat panels.

The measurement of peak output is significant for several reasons.
