Pickwagens are a class of small to mid-sized light utility vehicles with an open cargo bed, designed for transporting goods in urban and rural settings. The name is most common in Dutch-speaking regions and in some Germanic-speaking markets, where the vehicles are treated as a variant of the pickup truck or light commercial vehicle. The category is not tied to a single manufacturer or model and encompasses a range of designs built on car-based platforms or light-truck chassis.

Typical pickwagens have two to four doors, a compact wheelbase, and a cargo bed ranging from short to long. Powertrains are usually gasoline or diesel, with four- or six-cylinder engines common in older models and more compact four-cylinder units in later versions. Some later examples include hybrid or electric variants to meet urban emission targets. Drivetrain configurations include rear-wheel drive, and in some models four-wheel drive.

Used for local deliveries, tradeswork, agriculture, and municipal tasks, pickwagens offer a balance of cargo capacity and maneuverability that makes them suitable for constrained environments, such as narrow streets and tight parking spaces.

In contemporary fleets, the term pickwagen is less common outside Dutch-speaking contexts, with most markets referring to pickups or light commercial vehicles. However, the term persists in historical writing and among collectors of vintage utility vehicles, who distinguish classic pickwagens by their era-specific styling and construction.
