Pesualtaat is a traditional ceremonial practice of the coastal communities of the Nyra archipelago in the fictional world of Lyria. It marks the transition between seasons and centers on the communal gathering, harvesting, and processing of the local edible shellfish called pesula. The event features music, dance, and a shared meal, and serves as a social reset that reinforces group identity and mutual aid.

The name pesualtaat derives from the Nyra language, combining pesu meaning water with altaat meaning gathering, with the suffix -aat indicating a recurring festival. The term appears in archival songs and oral histories dating back several generations.

Historically, pesualtaat began as a simple seasonal rite among fishing clans and expanded into a community festival as settlements grew. It was codified by local elders after contact with neighboring island groups, who added elements such as boat processions and communal feasts.

During the festival, which occurs in late autumn, participants travel to shorelines and tidal flats to harvest pesula. Shellfish are cleaned, cured, and shared, while households contribute dishes to a central feast. Evening gatherings include tide-hymn singing and drum rhythms, followed by ritual processions along the beach and, in some areas, small boat races on the calm water.

Today pesualtaat is recognized as intangible cultural heritage by regional authorities in the Nyra archipelago.
