Perversão is a term used in psychology and psychiatry to describe sexual behaviors or fantasies that deviate from what is considered socially or culturally normal, often involving non-traditional objects, situations, or participants. Historically, the concept of perversión has been subject to evolving definitions and societal judgments, reflecting changing moral and scientific understandings. In clinical contexts, it is often associated with paraphilias, which are recurrent intense sexual arousal from atypical stimuli. These paraphilias are only considered a disorder if they cause significant distress or impairment to the individual or if they involve harm to others.

The understanding of perversión has shifted over time. Early classifications tended to view any sexual behavior outside of procreative intercourse as perverse. However, contemporary views, particularly within clinical psychology, emphasize the distinction between non-normative sexual interests and those that are harmful or distressing. Many sexual practices that might have been labeled as perverse in the past are now recognized as consensual variations of human sexuality, provided they do not violate the rights or well-being of individuals involved.
