Perustavia is a fictional municipality created for this article. It is located in Nordland, a temperate European‑inspired country. It lies on the southern shore of Lake Silma, with rolling hills to the west and mixed forests to the north. The municipality covers 102 square kilometers and has a population of about 7,800, yielding a population density of around 76 inhabitants per square kilometer.

Perustavia was founded in the mid-19th century as a timber and river-port settlement. It grew with the arrival of a regional rail line in the early 20th century and expanded its services sector after World War II.
