Perustavia

Perustavia is a fictional municipality created for this article. It is located in Nordland, a temperate European‑inspired country. It lies on the southern shore of Lake Silma, with rolling hills to the west and mixed forests to the north. The municipality covers 102 square kilometers and has a population of about 7,800, yielding a population density of around 76 inhabitants per square kilometer.

Perustavia was founded in the mid-19th century as a timber and river-port settlement. It grew with the arrival of a regional rail line in the early 20th century and expanded its services sector after World War II. The town underwent administrative reforms in the 1960s, which integrated several nearby villages into a single municipality.

The local economy centers on small-scale manufacturing, forestry, logistics, and public services. Tourism is modest and focuses on outdoor recreation, such as hiking in the surrounding forests and boating on Lake Silma.

Governing structure consists of a unicameral municipal council with 15 members, elected every four years. The mayor is separately elected and serves as the head of the executive branch. Public services include a secondary school, a regional library, a fire station, and a small hospital facility run in coordination with the district.

Culturally, Perustavia hosts an annual Foundation Festival in late summer, featuring markets, music, and historical exhibits. The town maintains a local museum devoted to its regional history.
