Peruskudos refers to the fundamental or basic tissue found in plants. It encompasses the cells that perform essential physiological functions necessary for plant survival and growth. These tissues are typically undifferentiated or only partially differentiated and are responsible for processes such as photosynthesis, storage, and support.

There are three main types of peruskudos. The first is parenchyma, which consists of living cells with thin walls that are capable of division. Parenchyma cells are versatile and can be involved in photosynthesis, storage of food reserves, and secretion. The second type is collenchyma, which provides mechanical support to growing stems and leaves. Collenchyma cells have unevenly thickened primary cell walls, giving them strength while remaining flexible. The third type is sclerenchyma, which offers rigid support and strength to mature plant parts. Sclerenchyma cells have thick, lignified secondary cell walls and are often dead at maturity.

These peruskudos are distributed throughout the plant, forming the bulk of the root, stem, and leaf tissues. They play a crucial role in the overall structure and function of the plant, contributing to its ability to absorb light, transport water and nutrients, and withstand environmental stresses.
