Perthitische refers to the perthitic texture observed in alkali feldspar minerals, a distinctive intergrowth of two feldspar compositions within a single crystal. This texture forms when a homogeneous alkali feldspar solid solution partially exsolves into alternating lamellae of potassium-rich feldspar and sodium-rich plagioclase as the rock cools slowly from magmatic temperatures. The lamellae are typically lamellar layers oriented along crystallographic planes and can range from submicrometers to several micrometers in thickness.

There are two main forms: perthite, where plagioclase lamellae occur within a potassium-rich host feldspar (often orthoclase or microcline), and antiperthite, where potassium-rich lamellae are hosted by a plagioclase-dominated crystal. The appearance under the microscope is a mosaic of light and dark lamellae, commonly visible in thin section under cross-polarized light. The texture provides clues about the cooling history and post-crystallization processes of the host rock.

Perthitic textures are most characteristic of granitic rocks, including granites, pegmatites, and related felsic rocks, but can also occur in syenites and felsic metamorphic rocks. Identifying perthite helps geologists infer slow cooling and exsolution dynamics in the crystallization history, contributing to interpretations of geological environments and thermal evolution.
