Pathogens and microorganisms refer to living organisms or biological agents studied in microbiology. Disease prevention and control rely on hygiene and sanitation, vaccination, appropriate use of antimicrobial drugs, and infection-prevention practices in healthcare and community settings. Ongoing challenges include antibiotic resistance, emerging pathogens, and the need for safe handling and biosafety practices in research and clinical environments.
