Partitivissa is a theoretical construct in linguistics and semiotics that describes how languages encode part–whole relations within noun phrases. It characterizes a dedicated morphosyntactic mechanism that marks a referent as a subdivision or portion of a larger whole, rather than the whole set or object. The concept is used in typological studies and in modeling partial reference in computational linguistics.

The term combines partitivo, indicating part or portion, with the suffix -issa to denote a distinct grammatical category. In the Partitivissa framework, a marker or operator attaches to a determiner, noun, or both, signaling that the referent is only a part of a larger object or set. This marker interacts with definiteness, number, and case, and may appear as a clitic, suffix, or separate particle depending on the language type being analyzed.

Morphology and syntax are central to Partitivissa. The portion marker can co-occur with numerals to specify a fraction or with classifiers that indicate the kind of part (for example, a portion of substance versus a portion of countable items). The framework allows for both definite and indefinite partitives and differentiates between partial inclusion and mere subset reference.

Typologically, Partitivissa has been proposed mainly in constructed languages and experimental corpora to study how partial reference structures influence processing and learning. It provides a formal tool for comparing partitive constructions across languages and for designing language-aware search and parsing algorithms.
