Paritásfeltételek, often translated as parity conditions, are a concept used in computer science and digital logic. They refer to a set of rules or constraints that ensure the accurate transmission and detection of data. In essence, paritásfeltételek are a mechanism to check for errors that might occur during data transfer.

The most common type of parity condition is the use of a parity bit. This is an extra bit added to a binary string, typically a byte, to indicate whether the number of '1' bits in the string is even or odd. With even parity, the parity bit is set to '0' if the number of '1' bits is already even, and to '1' if the number of '1' bits is odd, thus making the total count of '1' bits even. Conversely, with odd parity, the parity bit is adjusted to ensure the total number of '1' bits is odd.

During data transmission, the sender calculates the parity of the data and appends the parity bit. The receiver then recalculates the parity of the received data, including the parity bit. If the calculated parity matches the received parity bit, it is assumed that the data was transmitted correctly. If there is a mismatch, it indicates that an error has occurred. While simple parity checks can detect single-bit errors, they cannot correct them and may fail to detect an even number of errors. More sophisticated error detection and correction codes build upon the principles of parity.
