Pallars is a historical and geographic region in the northern part of Catalonia, located in the province of Lleida. It comprises the two contemporary comarques Pallars Sobirà and Pallars Jussà and sits in the Pyrenees, spanning a landscape of high mountains, deep valleys, and river basins. The Noguera Pallaresa and other Pyrenean rivers flow through the area, shaping its settlement patterns and ecosystems. The region is predominantly rural, with small towns and numerous villages dispersed across rugged terrain. Land use is dominated by agriculture, livestock farming, forestry, and, in recent decades, tourism and outdoor recreation.
