Paleltumisilta is a Finnish term for a frost bridge, an ice surface that forms over a river, lake, or other waterway during winter and can be used as a crossing. The surface may be natural, created by the freezing of water and subsequent consolidation of ice, or it may be prepared by people who clear snow and occasionally lay boards or other materials to distribute weight more evenly.
