PäästöjenValvonta is the Finnish term for "Emissions Control" or "Environmental Control", referring to the regulation and monitoring of air pollutant emissions from various sources in Finland. The primary objective of PäästöjenValvonta is to prevent or minimize negative impacts on the environment and human health.

PäästöjenValvonta is the responsibility of the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE), which oversees the enforcement of environmental regulations and standards. Air pollutants governed by PäästöjenValvonta include particulate matter, nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, volatile organic compounds, and other hazardous substances.

The program sets and enforces emission limits and guidelines for various stationery sources, such as industrial plants, power stations and waste treatment facilities. Emissions from mobile sources, such as vehicles, are regulated by the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Trafic).

The registration and monitoring of emissions from facilities are handled by the SYKE, which collects data on emissions from a wide range of facilities, from large industrial complexes to municipal waste management facilities. This data is used to apportion emissions amongst facilities, while contributing to larger environmental management data collection.

PäästöjenValvonta also works in collaboration with international organizations and local governments to advance emission reduction and identify areas requiring additional regulations. Effort goes into cutting emissions via emissions permits systems, even granting planners input into initializing and planning future plant efficiencies.
