Párologtatást is a Hungarian term that translates to "evaporation" in English. It refers to the physical process where a substance in a liquid state changes to a gaseous state due to an increase in temperature and/or pressure. This transformation occurs at the surface of the liquid.

The rate of evaporation is influenced by several factors, including temperature, surface area, air movement, and humidity. Higher temperatures increase the kinetic energy of the liquid molecules, making it easier for them to escape into the gaseous phase. A larger surface area allows more molecules to be exposed and evaporate simultaneously. Moving air, such as a breeze, carries away the evaporated molecules from the surface, reducing the concentration of vapor above the liquid and thus promoting further evaporation. Conversely, high humidity means the air is already saturated with vapor, slowing down the evaporation process.

Evaporation plays a crucial role in many natural phenomena, such as the water cycle. Water evaporates from oceans, lakes, rivers, and soil, rising into the atmosphere to form clouds, which eventually return as precipitation. In industrial processes, evaporation is used for concentrating solutions, drying materials, and desalination of seawater. It is also a common method for cooling, as the process of evaporation absorbs heat from the surroundings.
