organoselenolate
Organoselenolates are a class of chemical compounds characterized by the presence of a selenium atom bonded to at least one organic group and carrying a negative charge. This anionic species can be represented by the general formula RSe-, where R is an organic radical. Organoselenolates are the conjugate bases of organoselenols (RSeH). They are typically formed by the deprotonation of organoselenols with a base, or by nucleophilic displacement reactions where a selenolate anion attacks an electrophilic center.
The selenium atom in an organoselenolate is nucleophilic and can readily participate in various chemical reactions.
