oppnimus
Oppnimus is a monotypic genus of ground beetles (family Carabidae) first described by entomologist L. A. Roux in 1978. The sole species, Oppnimus maritimus, is known from the limestone karst landscapes of western Madagascar. The beetles are medium‑sized, measuring 8–10 mm in length, and exhibit a glossy, dark brown to black dorsal surface with fine, hair‑like microstructures that may aid in moisture retention. Their elytra possess a shallow, curved median ridge and dense punctation along the margins. The head is oriented forward with a pair of prominent mandibles, and the antennae are filiform with eleven segments.
