Oljetråget (Swedish for "oil pan" or "oil sump") is the lower reservoir of an internal combustion engine or other oil-lubricated machinery that collects and stores lubricating oil. Mounted beneath the crankcase, it receives oil returning from the engine and supplies the oil pump pickup with a steady source of fluid. The oil pan also helps dissipate heat and can contain baffles or windage trays to reduce oil sloshing and improve lubrication under acceleration or cornering.
