Olemisest is a term used in chemical literature to designate a family of fatty acid esters derived from oleic acid. The name combines the oleic/oil origin with the common ester suffix, signaling its basis in renewable lipid resources and its classification as an ester compound.

Chemically, olemisest compounds consist mainly of esters formed from oleic acid and a variety of alcohol moieties, often long-chain aliphatic or branched alcohols. Their structure features the characteristic cis double bond of oleic acid, which influences both physical properties and biodegradability. Depending on the alcohol component, olemisest esters range from liquid lubricants to waxy solids, with properties selectable by chain length and branching.

Production methods include direct esterification of oleic acid with chosen alcohols, or transesterification of triglycerides and glycerol derivatives derived from olive oil or other oleic sources.
