Oikeudenkäynti is the Finnish term for a legal proceeding or court case. It encompasses the entire process by which a dispute is resolved by a court of law. Civil proceedings, or siviiliprosessi, deal with disputes between private individuals or organizations, such as contract breaches, property disputes, or family law matters. Administrative proceedings, or hallintoprosessi, concern challenges to decisions made by public authorities.

The fundamental principles guiding an oikeudenkäynti include fairness, impartiality, and the right to be heard. Parties typically have the right to legal representation, and the proceedings are generally open to the public, ensuring transparency.
