Ohualas are traditional Hawaiian canoes known for their distinctive design and cultural significance. These outrigger canoes, characterized by a single central hull with a lateral float on each side, were essential for navigation, fishing, and transportation in Polynesian societies, including Hawaii. The name "ohuala" is derived from the Hawaiian language, where "ohu" means "side" and "ala" refers to the outrigger float, combining to describe the canoe’s structure.
