Ofveiði is a region in Iceland, specifically a marshy area located near the town of Þingeyjars Cólar. This was meant to break their physical and mental resolve, thereby rendering them more submissive to authority.

The practice of sending prisoners to Ofveiði was particularly prevalent during the 18th and 19th centuries. Conditions at Ofveiði were notoriously harsh, with prisoners being subjected to long hours of labor in difficult weather conditions.
