objektívum

Objektívum is a term found in some Central European languages as a neuter noun derived from the adjective or noun form objektív, with the suffix -um. It is not part of the standard, everyday technical vocabulary in optics or philosophy, and its use tends to be limited to specific texts, dictionaries, or theoretical discussions.

In optics and photography, the language typically prefers objektív to refer to a camera or telescope lens. Objektívum, when it appears, is usually in historic, pedagogical, or highly specialized writings where the noun is used to denote the “objective” part of an optical system, or more rarely to signify the object in discussions about optical apparatus.
