The term combines "nylon" (the synthetic polyamide material) and "drukring" (pressure ring), and is common in industrial, plumbing and electrical contexts where a lightweight, low-friction spacer or washer is required.

Typical properties of nylondrukringen include good wear resistance, low coefficient of friction, dimensional stability under moderate loads, and resistance to many chemicals.
