NSTAR was the brand name used for a major American electric and natural gas utility serving parts of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, including the Boston metropolitan area. The NSTAR Electric distribution company and NSTAR Gas distribution company operated as regulated utilities delivering electricity and natural gas to residential, commercial, and industrial customers. The NSTAR brand existed under the umbrella of Northeast Utilities for much of its later history, and staff and customers commonly identified the services as NSTAR Electric and NSTAR Gas.
