norasmiy

Norasmiy is an adjective used in Uzbek and related Turkic languages to denote something that is not official, informal, or unofficial. It describes statuses, processes, or entities that lack formal authorization, recognition, or regulation by a competent authority. In contrast to rasmiy, which means official, norasmiy implies informality, non-recognition, or non-legitimacy within formal systems. The term is common in public discourse, journalism, government reporting, business, and everyday speech.

The word is typically formed from the root rasmiy (official) with a negating meaning, a pattern found in several Turkic languages. As such, norasmiy has cognates and parallel usage in neighboring languages that distinguish official channels from informal ones.
