Noogen, also known as noogen or noosphere, is a philosophical and scientific concept that describes the sphere of human thought, reason, and collective consciousness. It is often viewed as an emergent layer of the Earth's biosphere, analogous to the lithosphere (rock) and the biosphere (life). The term was coined by Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, a French philosopher and paleontologist, and Vladimir Vernadsky, a Russian geochemist.
