It is often used in labeling or product descriptions to indicate the absence of antiseptic ingredients (such as alcohol, iodine, chlorhexidine, or phenolics). Caution is warranted, as a nonantiseptic substance may still require appropriate infection-control practices, such as proper cleansing, sterile technique, or the use of an antiseptic when indicated.
