It is widely used as an inert atmosphere to prevent oxidation and combustion in processes like food packaging, electronics manufacturing, and chemical synthesis. Liquid nitrogen, at extremely low temperatures, is utilized for freezing, cryogenics, and medical applications such as cryosurgery. Nitrogen is also a crucial component in the production of fertilizers, explosives, and pharmaceuticals. Despite its inert nature, under specific conditions, nitrogen can form various compounds with other elements.
