niezrównowaony

Niezrównoważony is a Polish adjective meaning not balanced or not in equilibrium. It can describe a physical object, such as a wheel or rotor that is unevenly weighted, causing vibrations and instability. The term is also used metaphorically for processes, systems, or conditions that lack balance or sustainability, for example niezrównoważony rozwój or niezrównoważona dieta.

The word is formed with the negation prefix nie- added to zrównoważony, which comes from zrównoważyć (to balance) and równowaga (balance). The standard spelling in Polish uses diacritics: niezrównoważony. A non-diacritic variant such as niezrównowaony may appear in informal or non-Polish contexts, but it is considered incorrect in standard Polish orthography.

In engineering and physics, niezrównoważony can describe components not in static or dynamic balance, leading to undesired forces and vibrations. In ecology, economics, and public policy, it denotes systems where inputs, resources, or development are not evenly distributed or sustainable, often signaling a need for corrective measures toward balance (zrównoważony).
