neuronejärjestelmän
Neuronejärjestelmän, commonly referred to as the nervous system, is a complex network of specialized cells called neurons that transmit signals between different parts of the body. It is the primary control and communication system of an animal. The nervous system is responsible for coordinating actions and sensory information by transmitting signals between different regions of the body. It is comprised of two main divisions: the central nervous system (CNS) and the peripheral nervous system (PNS). The CNS consists of the brain and spinal cord, which are the command centers of the body. The brain processes information and generates responses, while the spinal cord acts as a conduit for signals between the brain and the rest of the body. The PNS includes all the nerves outside the CNS, connecting the CNS to muscles, organs, and sensory receptors. These nerves carry sensory information to the CNS and motor commands away from it. The nervous system operates through electrochemical signals, with neurons communicating with each other at junctions called synapses. This intricate system allows for complex behaviors, learning, memory, and the perception of the environment.
