Nettoelektrisk is a term used in Scandinavian energy contexts to describe electrical quantities that are net of losses or deductions. It characterizes measurements or values after subtracting certain factors such as consumption by equipment, transmission and distribution losses, or other adjustments. The word combines netto (net) and elektrisk (electrical) and is used across discussions of power generation, transmission, and metering to distinguish net values from gross, or total, values.

In practice, nettoelektrisk can refer to net electrical power (nettoeffekt) or net electricity (netto energi). Netto effekt is the amount of electrical power that is actually delivered to the grid or to end users, after subtracting the plant’s own auxiliary consumption and, in some contexts, transmission losses. Netto energi represents the net amount of electrical energy produced or transmitted over a period after losses and on-site use are accounted for. The precise definition can vary by country, contract, or regulatory framework.

Examples illustrate the concept. A power plant with a gross output of 600 MW that uses 40 MW for on-site auxiliary systems and loses 20 MW in transmission would have a netto elektrisk output of 540 MW to the grid. In household or commercial contexts, netto energi follows net metering or export rules, where solar or other distributed generation minus the building’s consumption determines net delivery to the grid or net consumption from the grid.
