nervöverföringar
Nervöverföringar, also known as synaptic transmission, are the fundamental processes by which neurons communicate with each other and with other target cells. This communication occurs at specialized junctions called synapses. When an electrical signal, or action potential, reaches the end of a neuron's axon, it triggers the release of chemical messengers called neurotransmitters from the presynaptic terminal. These neurotransmitters then cross a small gap, the synaptic cleft, and bind to specific receptors on the postsynaptic membrane of the adjacent neuron or target cell.
This binding event can have excitatory or inhibitory effects on the postsynaptic cell. Excitatory neurotransmitters depolarize
Beyond chemical transmission, electrical synapses also exist, where ions flow directly between adjacent neurons through gap
