Neologizmem is a form of the Polish word neologizm in the instrumental case, and in general usage it refers to a newly coined term or a newly assigned sense within a language. A neologizm denotes a linguistic unit that has appeared relatively recently and is not yet fully integrated into the standard lexicon.

In linguistic terms, a neologizm can be a fresh lexeme (a new word), a new sense of an existing word, or a new expression. Neologisms arise to name new objects, technologies, concepts, or social phenomena, and they can be created through various processes such as derivation, compounding, blending, clipping, or borrowing from other languages.

Neologisms differ in how widely they spread and how long they persist. Some remain ephemeral or niche, while others gain broad acceptance and are eventually documented in dictionaries and grammar references. Their diffusion is influenced by media, literature, education, and public discourse, as well as by informal speech communities and online communication.

Polish language research tracks neologizmy to understand linguistic change and to describe which words become standard. Lexicographers and linguists study factors such as frequency, semantic shift, and stylistic register to determine whether a neologizm will be standardized, adapted, or fade away. Neologizmy thus illustrate how language adapts to new technologies, social practices, and cultural trends.
