Nemzetközösség is a Hungarian term that translates to "commonwealth" or "community of nations." It most commonly refers to the Commonwealth of Nations, an intergovernmental organization of 56 member states that are predominantly former territories of the British Empire. The Commonwealth is a voluntary association that promotes democracy, human rights, and the rule of law among its members. Its members cooperate on a wide range of issues, including economic development, education, and environmental protection. The head of the Commonwealth is currently King Charles III.

While the term "Nemzetközösség" can be used in a general sense to describe any community of nations, its primary association in Hungary is with the Commonwealth of Nations. The organization's origins trace back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries as the British Empire evolved into a new form of association among independent states. The modern Commonwealth was formally constituted in 1949 with the London Declaration, which defined its core principles.

Hungary itself is not a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. The term "Nemzetközösség" can also be used more broadly in Hungarian to refer to any international community or association of states working together for common goals, irrespective of historical ties to the British Empire.
