Neliväripainatus, often referred to as CMYK printing, is a fundamental process in modern graphic reproduction. It utilizes four primary ink colors: cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. The process involves separating a full-color image into its constituent cyan, magenta, yellow, and black components. Each color separation is then translated into a halftone pattern, a series of tiny dots of varying sizes. When these halftone patterns are printed on top of each other with the respective inks, the human eye perceives them as a continuous tone image. The density and spacing of these dots determine the final color and shade.
