nearspecular
Nearspecular refers to a region of light distribution that is close to the direction of specular reflection. When light interacts with a surface, it can reflect in various ways. Specular reflection occurs when the surface is smooth, causing light to bounce off at an angle equal to the angle of incidence, much like a mirror. Diffuse reflection occurs when the surface is rough, scattering light in many directions. The nearspecular region lies between these two extremes. It describes the area where the light is predominantly reflected in a direction very close to the perfect specular angle, but with some degree of spreading or diffusion.
